In order to investigate further my interest in film and film scoring, I signed up for Berklee College of Music’s online 5-course program in Film Scoring, which begins, predictably, with Film Scoring 101. Below is my final project for the course, scoring (and some sound design) for a short film titled Blue City. It was produced in 1997 as part of the writer/director’s coursework at USC.
I had a great time in the class and really enjoyed scoring the film. Before taking the class, I felt like my aesthetic veered sharply into the ambient and electronic realm, but the class forced me to compose and orchestrate for strings, brass, and other orchestral instrumentation. I’m very proud of the work I put into the film and I hope you enjoy it!
